FLL Explore

Grade Level: 2 to 4
Team Size: 2 to 6 kids
FLL Explore is a non-competitive program for young kids to introduce them to building simple robots and programming. The team follows a 12 session curriculum where each session helps them understand a new problem or create a new simple robot. Usually, the registration for FLL explore teams starts in August, and the Expos begin in January and continue till April-May. Kids usually use LEGO Spike Essential Robotics kit to build their model, but they can also use other LEGO Robotics kits like WeDo 2.0, Spike Prime, etc.

FLL Challenge

Grade Level: 4 to 8
Team Size: 2 to 10 kids
FLL Challenge season starts in August when a team can register itself. They receive season’s challenges sometime during September. They have to build a robot to complete a maximum number of challenges within Two minutes and Thirty seconds. The qualifier contests usually happen in November and December.
Kids usually use LEGO Spike Prime Robotics kit to build their model, but they can also use other LEGO Robotics kits like EV3, etc.

First Tech Challenge

Grade Level: 7 to 12
Team Size: 2 to 15 kids
First Tech Challenge is a competition for students from 7th to 12th grade which challenges them to design, build and code robots that have more real-world applications. While learning to code in Java and build using advanced mechanical concepts, students gain essential STEM skills that can give them the boost they need to succeed.
